FAQ

Dataloggers and Software

How do I download data from the sensor?

To download data, you need our TMD adapter with USB cable. The software LollyManager is free to download on our website.

My TMS device is broken/showing odd data; what do I do?

First, please contact us via email: tomst@tomst.com, we will try to sort out the problem. If needed, you can send the device to us for reparation. We do not charge anything for extracting the collected data; we understand that this is the priority. Additional repairs may be charged, that depends specifically on the type of damage.

Why can’t I download data from my TMS sensor?

If this happens, please check if you have the latest version of our LollyManager software. You will find step-by-step instructions on how to update here: https://tomst.com/web/en/systems/tms/software/

Do I need any special equipment for the TMS dataloggers?

No, you do not! Each device is completely autonomous. You only need our TMD adapter for extracting the data and our LollyManager software (free to download on our website). Both the software and the adapter are compatible with all our dataloggers models.

How do I replace the battery?

There is no need to replace the battery, its lifespan is more then 10 years without any charging.

Can I install the Lolly Manager onto my MacBook?

Unfortunately, the Lolly Manager is not compatible with macOS at the moment. However, you may try using Parallels virtualization, with which the Lolly manager should work.

Do you have a wireless version of the sensor?

At the moment, we do not. However, we are working on a solution that would enable downloading data wirelessly.

How to convert raw moisture data into volumetric soil moisture?

For converting raw moisture to volumetric moisture, we are currently using the following spreadsheet: https://tomst.com/web/en/systems/tms/software/#calibr
However, we will soon have an updated calibration tool as part of our main software Lolly Manager.
The conversion can be more precise by adjusting the ratios of Clay, Silt, and Sand at the given site. The following soils have been tested and contain conversions: Loamy san, Sandy loam, Loam, Silt loam, and Peat.

How can I convert the arbitary digital numbers from Point dendrometer to micrometers?

The curve intersects with the y axis at point 1 279; here the measurement is 0 µm. The full range of digital numbers is from 1 279 up to 34 000.
From this we may deduce the proportionality constant: 8 890/(34 000 – 1 279)
And finally the formula for converting the digital number to micrometers:
µm = (Value – 12 79)*{8 890/(34 000-1 279)}

Order and payment

How can I place an order?

Send us an order or request for a price quotation via email:
tomst@tomst.com or via Quotation regest form.

What kinds of discounts do you offer?

We usually offer discounts in the form of a free TMD adapter. With a larger order of TMS (i.e. 10 or more), we will be happy to send you a TMD adapter(s) free of charge.

What are the costs for shipping?

The costs drastically differ depending on your country and the size (and hence weight) of your package. We will inform about the price via email once we receive your order.

When will I receive my order?

We will discuss the time of delivery via email. We always try to complete your orders as soon as possible, however, the production is quite time-consuming. We ship with FedEx, so the package usually arrives the day after we send it.

Do you require prepayment?

We do not have such requirements. The time of payment depends on your needs.

How much in advance do I need to order the TMS devices?

The sooner the better. The time of delivery depends on the size of your order. With smaller orders (under 10 TMS), we can sort out the order rather quickly (approx. 1-2 days). However, we strongly suggest to not leave it to the last minute.
